Songkran สงกรานต์ 2012
The Thai New Year, Songkran, is traditionally observed by going to the Wat (temple) to pour fragrant water gently over the image of Buddha. The Buddhist believes by washing the image of Buddha will bring good luck and prosperity for the New Year. In Chiang Mai, the Buddha images from the city's important temples are paraded through the streets so that people can toss water at them for blessings.
The water that has been poured over the Buddha’s image is considered as “blessed” or sacred water to give good fortune to elders and family by gently pouring it on the shoulders. In addition, the pouring of the water is a symbolic belief of receiving cleansing from the bad deeds of the past.
Pray for the Thais
For the Thais to realize that only the grace of God can deliver them from sin and death.
For the Thais to realize that only the blood of Christ can cleanse them of sin.
For the Thais to realize that only the Holy Spirit can fill them with joy and peace.
